After watching the first hour of the film, I began to wonder why it had received so much praise at the time of its release, considering how slow and senseless it was despite the picturesque camera work and excellent music. But after a while, just at the point when the intermission began, I started to care about Lieutenant Ram and Sita's romance. After that, the movie began to seem like a wonderful poem that I had read a thousand times but still enjoyed reading. And this was set to superb background score, which could speak for itself what words could not. Though one may easily comprehend how the sequence of events would ultimately turn on, the poetic quality and music of the movie kept me invested through out the length.

The film is surrounded by aesthetics, which gave each frame of the film a painting-like feel: Kudos to the Art department and the director. Although there were certain shortcomings in the film- including some shady right wing politics, the emotional high it delivered more than makes up for them.
