Malayankunju strikes me as more than just a survival thriller; rather , it is a profound analysis of psychological space of Animon- brilliantly portrayed by Fahad Fazil; who is continually tormented by his inner demons and his quest to redemption, where a catastrophe serves a catalyst to change. And this voyage occasionally gets surreal, but the brilliant direction, cinematography, sound design and iconic compositions from AR Rahman (though it gets out of the place at times) anchor the movie to its fundamental emotions.
